What is a roofer's belt vs. a carpenter's belt?

January 2nd, 2009 | by admin |

Hi. My dad asked me to get him a new tool belt for Christmas. He said to make sure it was a roofing tool belt and not a carpenter's belt/pouch. What is the difference? I can't really find anything that specifically said it was a roofing belt. Anyone know where to get one?

A roofer need a big (nail)pouch on his tool belt for his roofing nails ….. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51R4KH3VY5L._SL500_AA280_.jpg
Carpenter carries a more tools and needs 2 or 3 smaller pouches….. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41XDHC5BCSL._SL500_AA280_.jpg

Roofers usually have a tool belt with 2 deep pocket bags on them. Carpenters belts have 2 bags but with 2 or more sections on each bag.
Roofers bags will only have a nail bag and a place to slide their utility knife in, and a hammer holder. Some roofers like the metal hammer holder that you put on the belt separate from the bags. Others like just a leather loop to put their hammer in which is part of one of the bags.
I would ask one of your dads buddies to show you one or tell you where you can get one.
